General Rules for Traveler's Tales:
Profiles:
Profiles must be written before role-play. Please try to pay as much attention to detail as possible. I or another admin/mod will do our best to read through your profile, and provide a critique. Please, I ask, do not take the critique offensively; it is only meant to make you think deeper on your character. Rarely will we tell you definitively to change something in your character profile.
Lack of detail with an excuse of "I'll role play the details" or "I don't want people to know that yet" will not be accepted. You must post the full profile. Characters must learn information for themselves, but players and staff need to know about a character beforehand.
Players will be allowed 2 characters, on separate accounts. You may have more than two characters only with an administrator's permission. Failure to follow this simple instruction will result in the removal of one or more of your accounts.
Spam:
SPAM is defined as Short Posts that Are Meaningless. Of course, the lines defined by that definition are few and grey, so my own expectations are listed here;
PROGRESSION IS KEY
If it does not progress or make any sort of interesting contribution to the current events in the area, it's best just to wait, or not say it at all. Remember, this is like writing a collective story; try to leave yourself open to influences from others and the surroundings. After all, it's not fun if nothing can happen, and please try your best to be descriptive.
ADVERTISING IS ALSO CONSIDERED SPAM!
We have a thread specifically for Advertisements... So please, use it!
Consequences:
First Offense: Warning
Every Offense Hereafter: Post reduction (5x amount of SPAM posts)
Advertising Consequences: (any offense) Permanent IP Ban
Post Order:
We will not enforce a post order on this site. If you wish to have a post order enforced in your thread, then place it as a comment in your initial post. Else, in the interest of keeping things moving, we will allow anyone to post at any time.
Exception: You may not post twice in a row. This is lazy, and only serves to increase your post count. There is a "modify" button. USE IT.
Abuse:
Any evidence that can be provided is greatly appreciated. If you do not bring forth any evidence, we do require a brief explanation of how the perpetrator is abusing you.
Abuse, as on this forum, is defined as any sort of unreasonable, unwanted interaction while Out Of Character (OOC). This rule is mostly meant to help keep people from abusing others through the Private Message System.
Note that this does not extend to in-character interaction in the role playing boards. Players are allowed to stalk/harass/attack/annoy/etc other players at will. Your reputation in-character is dependent on your actions in-character.
Consequences:
First Offense: Two-day Suspension
Second Offense: One Week Suspension
Third Offense: One Month Suspension
Fourth (and any hereafter): To be announced Suspension, possible Banning.
Godmoding:
Godmoding is a very severe offense, which must be counter-acted by by a severe punishment. Godmoding is generally defined as doing the impossible. (Take care to note that "impossible" is defined differently for every character!) Most often, this is seen as dodging when you cannot dodge, or living when you could not possibly survive it.
First Offense:
---> Less than 100 posts; Warning
---> Greater than 100 posts; Two-Day Suspension
Second Offense: post reduction (10x Godmode posts), and possible suspension
Third Offense: One Week Suspension, and post reduction.
Fourth Offense: Very Likely Banning.
* A note on post reduction consequences:
If you are due to receive post reduction and you have less than 100 posts, you are exempt from the reduction. If you are a repetitious offender, however, this clause does not effect you. You will be notified if you are such.
Character Control:
Under no circumstances are you to control another player's character without EXPLICIT permission. It is acceptable to assume that, if they are walking with your character, they will continue to do so, and common sense like that, but you may NOT make choices for them, or control their speech in any way. Additionally, you may not kill another player's character without their permission.
Death is permanent. Players will be allowed ONE resurrection for their character, at an admin, or moderator's discretion, but there must be a good reason for them coming back to life. A very, very good reason. If they day a second life... well... sucks to be them.
Foul Language:
Foul language, if used at all, should be kept to a minimum, in character, and will not be tolerated in the OOC boards. If this becomes a problem, I'll be forced to use the censors, or impose sanctions.
Explicit Content: {revised}
Avoid anything unreasonably detailed. Characters may sleep together, I encourage characters to date, couple, marry, raise families, whatever. Just censor yourselves, or I'll have to. And you won't like it if I have to.
At the very least, if a thread contains mature content, mark it as "Mature" as fair warning to viewers.
If the consequences are found to be not strict enough, we may construct a "Wall of Shame" for all players to see, and we may have to deal Karma punishments, as well. These are simple rules, so I imagine we can all follow them, m'kay?
