Galen's Races:
Human:
No explanation needed. Expected lifespan is less than 100 years.
Ki'rin:
Galen's Elvish race. They are (usually) fair skinned and taller, have a very slight build, and pointed ears. Ki'rin physically are weaker than humans, but they have very, very sharp minds and are well suited to magic.
Expected Kirin lifespan is 250 years.
for language resources: The Grey Company
El'ar:
The El'ar consider themselves a higher race, whose existence is justified by their protection of the "weaker" races. Their ears sweep gracefully downward, and are a bit shorter than the Ki'rin's. They are both physically, and mentally more adept than the average human, as well as having an almost unthinkable technical savvy. They lack, however, the human sense of ingenuity, and are bound by a strict sense of duty to their lords.
The El'ar came to this world as a result of their own curiosity, and stay as repentance for what they consider an unforgivable mistake.
Expected El'aran lifespan is between 500-800 years, depending on the family.
Spria:
The Spria technically have no physical body, and for ages were only drifting souls. Through the use of technology, however, they mastered the art of constructing biological frames, exactly copying the bodies of the other races. These constructs are used to house the immortal Esper soul, and when the body dies, they simply have a new one constructed.
Spria are usually very attached to their first body, and their first death is often a traumatic (depending on the circumstances, possibly fatal) experience.
Because their bodies are only constructs, they are often weak, but the Spria mind is stronger than that of any other race. Also because of their construct bodies, many people consider the Spria to be nothing but "ghosts" or "poltergeists", and feel they should not have the rights afforded to "normal" beings.
Of all the races, Spria are the most magically inclined.
Expected Esper lifespan is... until they die.
